Isn't it messy to insert a tampon without an applicator?

No, because there's no place for it to go. The tampon has to stay in your vagina, which is a blind sac only 3" to 5" long. There is an opening from your vagina to your uterus through your cervix, but it's smaller than the head of a pin (much too small for a tampon to squeeze through)!

Are women comfortable with no applicator?

Can a tampon get lost inside me?

I've never tried a tampon without an applicator. How will I know that I'm inserting it into the right place?
